Kuwait’s New Oil Refinery to Produce 614,000 bpd, KUNA Says

May 21, 2012:

Kuwait’s planned new oil refinery will have a production capacity of 614,000 barrels per day, state-run KUNA news agency reported, citing Kuwait Petroleum Corp. Chief Executive Officer Farouk al-Zanki. Once built, the new refinery will raise Kuwait’s total production capacity to 1.4 million barrels a day from a current 936,000 barrels a day, al-Zanki said, according to KUNA. The new 4 billion-dinar ($14.3 billion) Al-Zour facility was originally planned to produce 615,000 barrels per day. The refinery is aimed at meeting domestic and international demand for low-sulphur by-products, al-Zanki told KUNA.
